روش های شیرین سازی آب
امروزه تصفیه آب چه به عنوان آب آشامیدنی و چه برای استفاده صنعتی، از اهمیت خاصی برخوردار است. در کاربردهای صنعتی عدم تصفیه مناسب و صحیح آب، دستگاه ها و تجهیزات را متحمل خسارت زیاد کرده و روند تصفیه آب را با مشکل مواجه خواهد ساخت.
در دهه پیش روش های تصفیه آب شامل تقطیر، الکترودیالیز و رزین بودند و روش تصفیه آب خانگی و موسوم به اسمز معکوس قبل از اینکه در دهه اخیر در مقیاس صنعت به کار گرفته شود تنها برای تصفیه آب آشامیدنی و یا استفاده در آزمایشگاهها مورد استفاده قرار می گرفت.
اسمز معکوس یک تکنولوژی است که تقریبا در هر صنعتی که احتیاج به تفکیک مواد حل شده که معمولا حلال آب است عمومیت پیدا کرده است. متداول ترین مورد استتفاده RO در تهیه آب خالص است. در صنعت، جهت تهیه آب DM و تصفیه فاضلاب بهداشتی استقبال زیادی از RO می‌شود. فرایند RO در تهیه آب آشامیدنی از طریق نمک زدایی آب دریا و حتی بهبود مزه آب از طریق حذف آلودگی‌های مضر، مورد استفاده قرار می‌گیرد.
