تصفیه آب سخت

چه برای مصارف آشامیدنی و چه برای مصارف صنعتی معمولا آب طبیعی احتیاج به تصفیه دارد.

تصفیه آب برای مصارف آشامیدنی هم آسان تر و هم ارزان تر از تصفیه آب برای مصارف صنعتی است. نگرانی های اساسی در مورد آب آشامیدنی عبارتند از:

وجود باکتری های بیماری زا (پاتوژن) در آب

کمبود و زیادی غلظت بعضی از یون ها که در سلامتی انسان نقش دارند مثل یون فلوئور

ذرات معلق در آب

بو و مزه آب

میزان مصرف آب در بعضی صنایع در سطح جهان ذکر شده است.

به هرحال در مهندسی شیمی بسیاری از فرایندها همانند نمک زدایی، خشک کردن، تبخیر کردن، کریستالیزاسیون، اختلاط، رزین های تعویض یونی، رطوبت زدایی، جذب سطحی و غیره در ارتباط مستقیم با آب هستند.

مهمترین آلاینده های آب را می توان به سه دسته تقسیم کرد مواد گازی، مواد معلق و مواد محلول (نمک ها)

انواع سختی آب :

بنا بر ضرورت، انواع مختلف سختی به صورت زیر مطرح می شود:

سختی کل: مجموع غلظت یون های کلسیم و منیزیم را گویند.

سختی کلسیمی: قسمتی از سختی کل که ناشی از وجود یون کلسیم است.

سختی منیزیمی : قسمتی از سختی کل که ناشی از وجود یون منیزیم است.

سختی موقت یا سختی غیر کربناتی: قسمتی از سختی آب که در اثر حرارت دادن تجزیه نمی شود و از نظر علمی آن قسمت از سختی آب است که به صورت نمک های غیر کربناتی مثل سولفات، کلراید، و یا نیترات می باشد.
